Corn Gluten Meal or know as CGM is another by-products from corn, that obtained from the yellow layer under the corn husk. CGM is also high in protein and Xanthophyll, that often used as a natural dye to brighten the color of egg yolks. Co-product of corn wet milling, which typically has 60% protein content.
High protein and low fiber, makes CGM very useful to be used as broiler feed which requires high energy and protein. However, the content of amino acid by-products, especially lysine, and tryptophan, is relatively low and cannot meet the needs of chickens and pigs, so it is necessary to add soybean meal which has a high content of lysine and tryptophan.
CGM generally contains energy, protein, amino acids, xanthophylls, vitamins, and minerals. In the world of livestock, CGM is generally used for ruminant feed
